Awakening Guitar

The Vision:

Billy Yeager and Anais Yeager are musicians, filmmakers, activists and humanitarians who believe in the spiritual and transformative power of music to raise consciousness and expand awareness.

Obtaining a guitar is only the beginning, and becoming an entertainer is not enough.

What matters to the Yeagers is inspiring others to follow a path that these days is often less traveled, but one that provides a lifelong passion and quest for meaning and purpose, and challenges one to think and listen with their hearts, to develop a deep feeling about the world and our surroundings, and to search deep within their souls to find what humans really need to heal, develop and grow…

How “Awakening Guitar” began:

It began with an essay competition for high school students in West High School in Wichita. The winner of the essay received a guitar.

“Many of my students have found a new skill and love for making music by taking my guitar class but are not able to continue due to not having funds for an instrument. I so appreciate the opportunity for these kids to share their story and to earn an instrument so that this passion does not stop simply because it is the end of a school year.” – Joanna Freed West High School Wichita

In 2025, “Awakening Guitars” is working with several Title l schools in Kansas.

Some of the questions in which the essay is based are:

What would winning the guitar mean to you and what difference could it make in your life?
What are your thoughts/feelings about the power of music and how it can be used to create positive change in society / the world?
If you began to write music on the guitar, what would you like to write songs about?
If you were to become a famous artist, what would be your vision / message to make the world a better place?

Her music is meditative, healing and reflective.
